After a very sad year. My darling husband of 7 years passed away tragicly. We also had a house fire and I lost everything, including my cat. I am having trouble trying to be positive and grateful, but I guess I am learning to be grateful for the time I did have with him,and for the great friends and people I have around me that have been there otherwise I would not have made it through. Thank you to them I am grateful to have you.

  32. Sandra Lewis says:

Wonderful idea! Today I am grateful for all the people who believed in me and encouraged me to take the necessary steps to start a business. My family and friends and my husband, whom I adore. I couldn’t have done it without their support!

  33. We’re so grateful for the positive effects that pets have on our lives. They give us unconditional love, they are soft and warm, they listen to us, they make us exercise, they get us talking to other pet owners, they make us laugh when they do completely ridiculous things, they practice joy over little things like food and attention and they believe in simple, homest relationships. They remind us of the need to nurture, they reduce our stress, they give kids a confidente when the world seems scary, and they want to be with us, just because we are in their lives. They make our lives whole.

    • Totally agree with your sentiment – when we lost our dog to cancer mid last year we realized just how much we had taken his unconditional love for granted. As a family we acknowledged the importance of gratitude – everyday and our new puppy is the recepient of this attitude. Great life lesson for all of us.

  34. I’m grateful for good health, an abundance of fresh organic local produce to feed my family with, a job that I enjoy, wonderful family and friends, including my new baby niece. I’m grateful for a husband who loves me even when I’m frazzled from the pressures of being a working mum, and I’m grateful for my beautiful sweet 7 year old boy who teaches me no matter how hard life is, there is always someone to stay strong and focussed for, and who makes me want to be a better person.

  35. Dione says:

I am grateful for having 5 wonderful children whose faces I anticipate seeing with eagerness every morning. I am grateful for joy and happiness in our home. I am grateful for our health system who has made my 3rd daughters life so much better since she was born with heart and stomach problems and couldn’t eat until she was 3 and a half years old. I am grateful to live in NZ. Just a few things I am grateful for.

  36. Sue says:

I am grateful to have had the opportunity to transport veterans, that can no longer walk in the Anzac Day parade – for about the last 12 years. It’s extremely rewarding – I feel privileged to have been able to assist.

  37. Katrina wright says:

Over the last 2 months I have lost some people very close to me and have a somewhat feeling of being lost and having to re think and find my path in life again, I am so very greatful to have wonderful friends. Who will sit with me, listen to me, make me smile, watch over me and help me though my jounery. Without them it would be a much harder time.

  38. Melinda Johns says:

As cliched as it sounds, I’m grateful to be alive. Six years ago I was told that my Hodgkin’s lymphoma was refractory and nothing more could be done to save my life. But today I am happy and healthy, have been in remission for five years, and just yesterday I saw my doctor for my annual check up and he said ‘You are a very lucky girl’.
Although having cancer was a painful and traumatic experience, it taught me to take stock of what I have, rather than have not, so I am also grateful to have learnt this very valuable lesson.

  39. Sue says:

I am grateful to still have the opportunity to have special time & getaways with my Mum

  40. Diana says:

I am grateful to my friends and the beautiful place I live near the sea. I am now alone since my husband and I split up, my three children are now all grown and are living lives of their own, one just married, one travelling overseas, one left for university. Sometimes I feel very alone after having a life filled with partner and family – but then a friend calls and we go for a long walk by the sea, a friend emails with an eflower and another phones ‘just because’. I appreciate them so much and I am grateful for ‘both’ kinds of family whether near or far.

  41. Kirsty says:

I am greatful for life, for good friends and for family who love me. I have had a hard time recently and have realised I have sooooo much.

  42. Cool site – great idea!

Today, so far, I am grateful for a warm and secure house on a night that was cold, rainy and filled with beautiful and awe-inspiring thunder. I’m grateful for clean, purified water to drink and to transform into delicious and nourishing teas. I am grateful for healthy, whole foods to feed my family for breakfast. I am grateful for my daughter’s smile and her tiny little arms wrapping around me in a before-school hug. I’m grateful for creative abilities and fun times making Easter crafts to mail to family around the world.

And, I’ve only been up for 90 minutes. Bring on the day!

  43. Nicole says:

I am grateful everyday for a career I love and a workplace I enjoy going to each and every day ; I have beautiful family and friends who would do anything for me and who are such positive influences in my life; I have perfectly good health and fitness; I have a lovely home with many creature comforts; I have many many blessings and am sure not to take anything or anyone for granted.

  44. Jo middleton says:

I am so grateful for my middle son Ned who turned 16 yesterday and who has Down syndrome. Sure there have been some hard times, but the good times far outweigh them. The effort that he puts into life and the pleasure he shows for things that I take for granted make me feel thankful every day!!

  45. Jenni says:

Having a hard time at home recently, I packed up for a trip to South East Asia. Now I’m home I’m so grateful for having a front door I can close at night, apartment walls made of concrete not sticks and not waking up wondering where breakfast/lunch/dinner will come from today. Simple things we dont think about and take for granted when in fact, we should simply be grateful for them.

    • Susan Ly says:

      Hi Jenni,

I truely understand the meaning of home sweet home. I’ve traveled to SE Asia and was blessed for what I had by the simple things in life such as a beautiful home and three healthy meals a day and a paid job. And to see the resilence of the SE Asians that have very little yet they are still happy people. I am grateful for the simple things in life after the trip.
